project 39.......pretzels

Made these last week, but thinking of making it again today or tomorrow......
Going to double the recipe though as they bare really good and the boys said they were not enough!

For 8 large or 16 smaller pretzels.....

2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 t salt
1 tsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
1 cup luke warm water
Knead together and leave to double in size.  knead down and divide in 8-16 equal amounts. Make sausages and fold it like a knot/bow.  Dip it in the following mixture:

Heat 1/2 cup warm water and 1 tbsp baking soda in the microwave for a minute.  There's going to be some of the baking soda it the bottom of the dish, but it i OK.  Dip each pretzel in this mixture and place it on your baking tray.  Allow to stand for 10-15 minutes.

Sprinkle wit coarse salt or cinnamon sugar and bake in a preheated oven for 9-10 minutes at 220*C.

In the meanwhile melt about 4 tbsp butter in the microwave.  When the pretzels are done and brown, remove from the oven and paint your melted butter all over the hot ones.

Faboulishes!
